EAT LIKE A CALIFORNIAN AT FASHION VALLEY
January 2, 2019
California is known across the world for its coastal beauty and understated chic. At Fashion Valley you can lap up the laidback lifestyle, strolling through beautiful surroundings and picking up your favourite brands. As well as open-air shopping at more than 200 stores, you’ll also be able to enjoy guilt-free dishes at True Food Kitchen and other venues that give you a chance to experience fresh menus and the healthy-eating lifestyle famously loved by Californians.
True Food Kitchen offers a nutritious menu packed with wholesome, hearty vegetables, whole grains and proteins. The menus are inspired by owner, Sam Fox, and his friendship with doctor and physician Andrew Neil who created the ‘anti-inflammatory’ diet. The dishes provide healthy nutrients and delicious flavour in keeping with Neil’s health philosophy, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Whether it’s a Spaghetti Squash Casserole or Kale Guacamole, the seasonal menus are innovative and provide an unexpected blend of delicious flavours, whilst also being nutritious.
For those looking for a quick vitamin hit there’s also Pressed Juicery, founded by publicist Carly de Castro and her two childhood friends in a small Brentwood storefront in West LA. They wanted to create a wellness focussed product to assist with physical and mental health and involved the UCLA School of Medicine in their research to offer effective and nutritious juices. Since launching in 2010, the brand has gone from strength to strength with more than 70 stores and a dedicated recipe book, using methods that maximise the health benefits for their juice drinkers.
The menu ranges from thirst-quenching blue lemonade, to charcoal detox shots. If you’re looking to come back from your holiday feeling great, this is the place to be with a range of ‘Cleanse’ juices including citruses, fruits and roots, and other beneficial healthy ingredients. Quench your thirst here before continuing your shopping extravaganza!
STACKED: Food Well Built, where guests are ‘culinary architects’, has an extensive salad menu with a number of options from cranberry and walnut, to the classic Caesar. At STACKED, diners are invited to be the chef, customising their meal and building their own dishes by picking ingredients from the extensive list available. For those looking for healthier options, a new 100% plant based, gluten-free and non-GMO burger was added to the menu earlier this year.
As well as delicious dining, with the iconic fountains and swaying palm trees you’ll get a sense of the laidback coastal feel of California at Fashion Valley. After a day of shopping why not head to one of the spectacular beaches near the mall, such as Coronado, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla or North County. Fashion Valley is also conveniently located near to the famous San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego and downtown’s Gaslamp Quarter.
